Day 2---Universal Studios

We started bright and early at Universal Studios.  We had never been there before and I really wasn't expecting much.  One of my brothers had been there years ago and he kind of put a sour taste in my mouth. But going to Universal studios was part of our ticket price so we thought what the heck.  Well, I can honestly say I LOVED it.  I don't know if I would recommend it for really young children, although there were tons of young children there too and they all seemed pretty happy.

One thing that I liked that they had was several centrally located displays that listed how long the wait was at each ride. This made it so convenient so you didn't have to walk to any of the rides and THEN find out their was a super long line.  I was expecting Universal to be super busy, but it wasn't that bad.  I was just pleasantly surprised with the whole day.

We got Citypass to go to all the amusement parks. It was a really good deal to have at Christmas time because they raise the prices during Christmas time, but they don't  raise the City pass prices.  We were able to go to 7 days of things for just a little over $200 a ticket.  I think the prices have gone up for 2012, but it was a good deal for our family.  When I priced out how much the tickets would have cost  for our whole family if we paid the fare at each park individual, each person would have cost over $600.00 dollars.  YIKES, this was so much cheaper.   We also ate breakfast every morning at our hotel and then we  had each of the kids take turns making sandwiches for everyone each day.  Then we left the park and went to a fairly cheap restaurant each night for dinner.  We also brought tons of snacks that everyone munched on while we were in the park.  So our trip really didn't cost as much for food as it really could have.  Our condo was super cost to a Costco where we were able to get all of our gas a lot cheaper and stock up on cheaper food since we bought it in bulk.

Matt loved Universal because he loves  movies and because they had some many action adventure kind of stuff there as well as rides.

We have never been to any of the amusement parks at Christmas time and I must say I was thoroughly impressed with the Christmas decorations as well as the shows they had that centered around Christmas.

They have a really cool Jurassic Park ride. The dinosaurs are HUGE and we took a huge plunge.

Once it was night Matt and Spencer headed over to go to the Jazz/:Laker game. It was a good game, but the Jazz lost.  Matt started feeling under the weather at the game and came home a little sick.  Kara had been sick with a small bug that every member in our family ended up catching except Colton.  I luckily,  caught it before we left on our trip, but unfortunately, Spencer, Matt and Coby all caught it on our trip. It was a little sad because they all had to miss one day each in our good time.

We went to a wonderful showing of  The GrinchMas!!   Fred Salvage of the wonder years read the story to us and then they lighted the Christmas tree.  It was amazing.
