Matthew's 40th Birthday----Amazing Race!!!

My brother Matthew turned 40 in May, but Suzanne didn't have his big surprise party until, August 20th.   It was a lot of fun. Matthew had a very busy day before he got to the party.  He ran a half marathon, then biked 46 miles,  drank wheat grass, had six random strangers see Happy Birthday to him, and then he went to Lagoon to go  on the Bungie jumping adventure.  I think he was pretty tired by the time  he came to his party at the home of the Doman's.

At the party it was pouring at one point.  I don't think I have seen that  much rain for a very long time!!!!!  Yikes, I was so glad they had gotten a few tents until the wind stated blowing them away!!!

Matthew, I am so glad you are my brother!  You are the best!

Colton leaves for college on August 24th!

It is hard to believe that Colton is moving out of the home. I think it never seems like it will happen when they are young children, but then all of the sudden it happens right before your eyes!  I often hear others say that they can't believe their children are a certain age.  I wonder if anyone every can believe their children have reached a certain age.  I think we always feel a little too young to have children the ages we do.

Colton wasn't super excited to move out, but yet excited at the same time.  We moved him in gradual as we were at Education Week.  We bought him a lot of food so we didn't worry he would starve, as crazy as that sounds.  Colton and I went to the Parent/Student Orientation and it actually made me feel a little better.

Here is a picture of Colton being his silly self.  A young man named Jon from our ward made it for Colton.  This scarf is HUGE.  Appartently, it is some kind of scarf from Dr. Who, which Colton and Jon are a fan of.  Colton I know you will do super good at college, but I will miss the daily interaction of seeing you and talking to you each day!!!  You are super duper smart so I know that you will do super duper well!!!!!  I love you Colton!

Education Week

August 16th through 19th Kara and I went to Education Week at BYU!!!  It was so fun to go there with my daughter.  She loves to go to classes as much as I do.  I loved it!  Colton started working this week too at his new job at UVU, so he wasn't able to come with us as planned. I love hearing speakers who inspire me.  I love running into people at Education week that I haven't seen in a long time.  I saw my teenage friend, Kristina Ramussen and my friend Christin who I have know since 5th grade. We met up for a few classes and it was so much fun to catch up.  But, my favorite part of Education week was going to class with Kara and just having girl time together!!!!!!
The following week  Christin and I went to the Mount Timpanogos  temple together to do a session.  I sure have missed Christin and it was good to see her while she was in Utah dropping her daughter off at BYU.

Colton got the Melchizedek Priesthood

On August 14th, Colton got the Melchizedek Priesthood from his dad, Matthew Glenn.  He received a beautiful blessing.  Colton had been looking forward to getting the priesthood for so long and felt so blessed to have the opportunity to receive it.  Above is a picture of him and his friends who came for the blessing.  My brother Mark and family were also there.  My brother Matthew was in Washington for a vacation.  After the blessing we all went home and had dinner together.  We had Chicken Alfredo, one of Colton's favorite meals!

Youth Conference, August 11th through 13th!

This is the property we stayed at during youth conference. It was gorgeous and had a view of the city of Logan.

For Youth Conference this year we went to Logan for our youth conference.  But before we got there we stopped at the Hill Force Air Museum. It was really a neat place to stop.  Since Matt is the young men's president he also went too.  I loved that we could go together.
Kara, Katie and Tiffany posing for a picture.

Brother Coulam, a member of our bishopric; it also happened to be his 29th birthday, yep he really is 29.

Here we are in the Logan Tabernacle.  We happened to come when there was some one there to play the organ.  He told us all about the organ and it was so cool.  While we were in Logan we toured the Family History center there.
We walked all around the temple and we were told really inspiring stories about the temple.  The day before we left to go to youth conference we went to the temple as a youth group and that was great because it even included the Beehives.

Most of the Mia Maids and one Laurel, right in front of the Logan temple.

While we were in Logan we went to the play of, "The Man who Knew,"  the play was in Smithfield, which is out in the  middle of nothing.   This was a play about Martin Harris and it was so inspiring.  I felt such a great love for this great man and all that he did to help bring the Book of Mormon.  I think often we focus on the fact that he lost the manuscript, but from watching this play I better understood Martin Harris.  We also toured  Utah State College.  Boy is that a beautiful campus.

Girls Camp, August 3rd through 6th

Girl's Camp was held at the J.R. property past Fairview, UT.  We actually passed my sister in law Miriah, parents home on the way.   I worked with the 2nd years and they were so cute.  Unfortunately, for me, I didn't get to stay the whole time, but I sure loved the every minutes I was there.

Above is cute, Sierra, one of  my ward Beehives. I serve in  my ward as the 2nd Counselor in Young Women's.

The stake president trying to teach us a game that I can't remember the name to.

Kara enjoying the game.  The theme this year for camp was, "Anchored in Christ."  We had a theme song for it and everything.  It was the most organized camp I have every attended.  I have never seen a camp run that smoothly!!!!  WOW!

Be the Best You Camp July 19th-23rd, Thanksgiving Point!!

Kara went for her second year of Be the Best you camp!!.  THis is a camp that is run by Barbara Barrington Jones.  It is a camp that is devoted to service.  They do all kinds of activities that are service oriented. They also have incredible speakers that come to bless their lives.

Before the dance.  Kara's cousin Mikayla who was also at the camp came and helped with her hair. Last year Mikayla and Kara shared a room, but this year because Kara was in the 14-15 year old group they couldn't be in the same group because Mikayla was in the 12-13 year old group!

Kara was placed in this group with other 14-15 year old girls and they had one adorable counselor too.

They had one of their activities be about working with some of the elderly.

This was the first day of camp.  This is one of the leaders who works with the girls, who they obviously adored!

Posing for another picture with their group.

Each group brought the material to make a blanket for a child in need.

They each had a child they worked with for a day.  They read them a story with a book they bought to give to their child.  Then they took them through some fun places that are on Thanksgiving point.

On the last day of camp, parents came up to view a slide show about what their daughters had done during the week, hear some of the youth speak and  watch a modest is hottest fashion show.   My niece Mikayla was one of the ones who modeled a modest dress!
