The first night I was there my friends and I went to Ruth's Chris steak house and then we went to see Wicked. I LOVED Wicked. What a treat it was to see it. I highly recommend it.
Here I am on a fun boat ride that is by the Golden gate bridge. Boy was it beautiful, tranquil, and peaceful. I love the water.
Here is a picture of me in the electric chair.
Here is Obama and I just chilling out. How cool it was to run into him on the trip. He was so easy to talk to even. (hee, hee)
This is a fun little place we found that also happened to have my daughter's name. The cupcakes were delicious too. Spencer and I were talking about how fun it would be to open one up in Utah. It would be fun, but the pounds would surely come.
What a fun trip it was, but mainly it was fun just to visit and hang out with friends and have a lot of laughs. We have all been on trips together before so we travel well together, except we have a problem with not getting enough sleep, but that is easily taken care of when we get home.
I am a girl with a plan, to love much, to be happy, grateful, and to make my little circle the BEST PLACE possible.

Celebrating Matt's birthday!!!
Here are some of the pictures the day of Matt's birthday. He had such a busy week the week before that he wanted to relax and also be able to work in the garage. The picture above is of Matt talking to his sister Melissa who called. We are so excited because it is looking like she and her family will be here to visit during their spring break.
The plate above is the requested food that Matt wanted for his birthday dinner and yes, I am totally aware that it has no vegetables besides the potatoes (if you count them as veggie's), but hey I just aim to please on birthdays.
Spencer and Kara getting ready to eat. Colton also getting ready to eat except he had helped make the dinner. Monday night is his night to help make dinner and he was a super big help. He is becoming quite the cook. He also made his dad breakfast in bed (bacon, eggs, toast, orange juice) and it was all his idea. I unfortunately didnt' get that picture--wasn't thinking that early in the morning.
Matt getting very excited to open his presents.
Kara made her dad a book full of poems and pictures and in this picture he is reading it with her. It was such a treasure to him.
Matt's favorite cake--chocolate with thick chocolate icing and of course we had peanut butter ice cream too, his other favorite.
And he blew out the cake in one breath. I can't even do that.
Well, I need to go and get packed. I am going out of town for a few days with my girlfriends while Matt is keeping down the fort and I can hardly wait.

Kara is going to the State Science Fair at BYU!!
This is a picture Matt took of us, as we waited for the results of Kara's science fair results. Can you see how tired we look? If you notice the red on my nose, well it really is red from all of the blowing of my nose that day, not a pretty picture. Colton is sitting off to the side reading a book waiting patiently and Spencer was out on a double date.
Here is a picture of Kara after receiving her award. There was less than 300 science fair projects and they were picking 120 winners to go on to BYU for the the state (or was it called Central State; I don't know) competition. It was a very crowded event and it was a lot of fun to see all of the other science fair projects others had done. One thing that was really cool is that Edgemont Elementary will be represented well at BYU because there are three going out of the seven that made it to district. And the other two are both in Kara's class---Sydney, and Olivia, which is way cool! They were some really cool projects that I learned a lot from; one thing is for sure that there is very talented students in the Jordan school district. We got there for her interview at 5:15 PM and then they announced the winners at 7:30 p.m. Then we went to Red Robin for dinner to celebrate!
Here is a picture of my Valentine roses and the flowers next to it are Kara's. Every Valentine's day Matt gives Kara flowers too, a very sweet tradition. Kara had this cold this week and I unfortunately caught it too. So I was pretty under the weather on Valentine's day so we didn't do our planned activities. But it was still a fun day; I just hope I get better very soon. And now tomorrow is Matt's birthday---PARTY!!!

6th grade dance!
Here is a picture from our schools Harmon's Day on Tuesday, February 10th. At our PTA board meeting it was decided that the Student Council (6th grade leaders) would do some of the dances they have been learning for the 6th grade dance at the grocery store. Boy did they do a good job and they danced for over a half and hour and had quite a crowd.
After dancing they all had a nice break and visited.
Here are pictures before the annual 6th grade dance. Kara and I left for the school a little after 8a.m. for the mom's to start decorating. The dance started at 11 a.m. During the dance I served drinks and then after the dance we cleaned up. So it was busy, but mainly it was a lot of fun to watch all of the kids having a great time and enjoying all of the work they did to learn the dances.
Here is the balloon float we made this morning and then after the dance we were popping all of the balloons to take it down. And all the cute decorations on the walls were made by the 6th grade students.
Kara during the dance-having fun.
And here is Kara and I right after the dance and right before we started tearing down the balloons. And now we are off to the district science fair. Last night we went to Daybreak elementary (quite a ways away) to set up her science fair and tonight we are going back for Kara to have her interview with the judges and wait for the results of her science fair project. And I am very happy that this school week is coming to an end as it was the "Take your Family to school week" that I was over and everything went well! Hooray!

A novel writer in our family!
I just wanted to share with you that Colton decided to become an author. About three weeks ago he had this great idea and decided to write about it and kept writing and writing and has LOVED every minute of it. He talked of nothing else and the more he talked about it the more his novel came to life. He was telling me last week how the story changed because the characters started doing things that he didn't want them to do. How upsetting it was to him! It has been so fun watching him write and see how excited he can get. It has been quite an adventure seeing the smiles on his face and the happiness he has felt from writing. He has written 100 pages so far and he has discovered that he has a talent for writing! What makes this really cool is that he has always disliked writing! Way to go Colton!!!!

Well, the judges came and judged the 6th grade science fair and Kara is a winner. She is so pumped! There were seven from her school that won that will go on to compete in the district, Friday February 13th. It will be a busy day that day for her because it is also the 6th grade dance that morning and then she will be interviewed by the judges as well all during the school day. You Go Girl!

Book Club
I love belonging to a book club. I highly recommend becoming a part of one if you can. I have been in my book club for over a year or more and just love it. It is so fun to discuss books and hear other peoples input of things I never would have thought of if they hadn't brought it up. How did they get so wise? I also love how I have the opportunity to read books that I would have never read if someone else hadn't picked it for our months book. What is really cool about this is often books you thought you would never like become your favorites. Who would have thought? Another thing we do in our group is we go out for a meal each month so we get to add food into the mix too. And anyone who knows me knows how much I love food.
This month we are reading, "Bringing up Geeks" So far it is a great book and very validating.

Kara in the middle of working on her science fair project! It is due on February 3rd and boy will Kara be excited when it is done (and so will her parents)! I will display her science fair project later on this week when it is displayed at the science fair exhibit! Also, you might notice that Kara has her hair a little shorter and has bangs! She looks so beautiful!
