Prom 3-15-14

The night we got home from Turkey Kara got asked to prom.  Kara only told a couple people that we were going to Turkey and Marcus wasn't one of them.  So he had to wait until we got back.   This is how he asked her.

Kara was very stressed when we got home from Turkey as she still had a ton of work to make up at school and she had planned to spend most of Saturday studying.  We were also concerned about finding a dress in such a short amount of time.   So the next day after school we went dress shopping.   We decided to rent a dress again.  We found the dress she chose at the second place we went.    We should have spent more time, but oh well.  She answered the boy right after we found the dress.  Then later that evening another boy asked her to prom.  Kara felt horrible because he had also waited until she got home from Turkey since she was gone.  He sent the cutest invite. Kara is so sensitive and she didn't want to hurt his feelings.   So she and her friend Tianna went over to his home with an umbrella (Tianna's idea).  Kara asked if he would take a rain check.  He was nice about it.

On the day of prom  Marcus picked her up at 8:15 for breakfast and fun activities.  Kara told me she wanted a cascading braid in her hair with it down curly.    My friend Makinzee came to my rescue and came over and did Kara's hair.  She did such a great job that she was actually able to wear it to church that way.

After I curled her hair.   It looked beautiful!
Marcus picked Kara up at 4:30 pm.

They went over to Tanner's home (someone in her group) to have dinner and to take some pictures.

Our trip to Turkey--Flying to Turkey!

Kara and were both excited and scared to fly to Turkey.  We were so thrilled to see Coby, but it was a long flight and we were afraid of the unknown.   Looking back now, these thoughts sound ridiculous, but they were real at the time.  We flew direct to Paris and we were able to sleep part of the way.  Turkey is 9 hours ahead of us and when we arrived it would be late afternoon.    Kara and I in our seats in the plane.   We had two seats together and we had our own personal tv on the back of the seat that was in front of us.  They had tons of movies we haven't seen, games to play,  and lots of music.  It was fun to be so easily entertained.  Our flight to Turkey was around ten hours so it wasn't too bad.

The pictures below was in the Paris airport!   If you look closely you can see how tired we look.   We had an hour lay over which I was afraid would be too quick, but it was actually perfect.  The Paris airport is HUGE!   I am glad we were able to find our way to our connecting flight without help.   Our flight to Turkey was 3 1/2 hours.  I think we slept most of the way there so it went by very fast!

Happy 17th Birthday Kara

On Kara's 17th Birthday she had a had a fun day of school.  Matt made her an Omelet for breakfast, one of her favorite things to eat.  On the night of her birthday she also had an improv show that she was in.   So we took her out for an early dinner and then she had to go to practice before her show.  Spencer and Colton went with Matt and I to her show.  Here is a picture from after her show with her brothers.
After the show instead of having our family birthday, Kara was asked on a date from a cute boy she met through regional events that attends Lehi High School that night.  He came to see her in her improv show and then after our pictures Kara went on her first date with him.  Kaeden had just turned in his mission papers and now has a call to the Atlanta Georgia Mission.

On Saturday we celebrated Kara's birthday.  The weekend was so busy as Matt had to work and Kara and I were busy packing to go to Turkey.

For Kara's birthday she got rain boots, a ukelele and  some other small stuff and a trip to Turkey!

Sadly, no homemade cake (too crazy) so a yummy red velvet cake from Costco.

Recently......

After Kara's improv  show they posed for a cute picture, too bad I didn't have it focused right.  The improv is one of the funniest group of kids to watch.  They seem like they can almost predict what each other is going to say.

Above are the pretty flowers that Matt got Kara for Valentine's day.  I love that he spoils his daughter too.
My fun roses.  My brother John and sister in law Annette and Mason came and stayed at our home that night before heading to Vernal to see Annette's family.

Kara and Spencer hanging out before their dad's birthday party.
 Getting ready for Matt's birthday!

Happy Birthday to my man!   I love you and are so grateful to have you in my life.  You are my everything and make each of my days brighter.  xoxoxo

I asked Colton to pose for a picture and this is what I got.

Kara did a great science fair project.  She spent countless hours on the research of it.  She won the award for her class and then went to the district science fair and now she is going on to the state science fair at the end of March where they are giving  60,000 in prizes

Some other things I want to remember from this last month  Kara got her ACT scores and did super well---she is sure to get many scholarships for college. It will be fun to see which one she chooses.   Spencer got a promotion at work.  He signed a lease for an apartment and is moving out in May to the Provo area.    Colton got a raise at work and was pretty pumped.   Matt traveled to Wyoming and has been super busy at work. Coby has been traveling all over Turkey and he has been preparing an itinerary for us to have fun while there.

I got some assistants to help with Activity Days and that made me so happy.   Kara is turning 17 this week and in one week we are leaving to go to Turkey.   So excited to see my son Coby Vail, but I am going to miss my main squeeze.  He was so sweet and thought Kara would like to go to Turkey more than he would.  She is ecstatic as she has never left the country before.
