Memories and Happy 50th anniversary

While Jared and Lindsey stayed with us we looked at photos of my mom. One of their daughters resembles her so much it is unexpected. It was fun to look at the pictures of my mom and dad and reminiscence. Jared was 6 when my mom died so his memories of her are vague.  It is both happy and sad to talk about our parents.  It is emotional, but I always feel the spirit strong when we do.  Lindsey and I went through a few pictures and below are some of our favorites.

On another note,  I am actually trying to figure out what to do with all of the missionaries letters my mom and dad wrote during  his mission.  The handwriting is very difficult to read and I feel like it is personal.  Any ideas what I should do?

My mom somewhere between 15-18

My niece who looks like my mom.  I know they don't care for their children's pictures on the internet, but since my blog is only read by family and a few friends I thought it would be okay!

My mom on the 2nd row to the bottom, 2nd one on the the right with her head tilted

(My mom on the bottom left corner)

In all of these pictures we could really see a resemblance to my mom.  It is amazing how genetics works.

Last month my parents would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.  I thought of them most of the day on 6-21 and I  felt grateful for their influence in my life. I don't know how it works in heaven, but I hope they knew how grateful we are that they got together!

Busy Weekend

Coby and Colleen came for the weekend late Friday night!  On Saturday morning the youth in our ward and leaders  went on a temple walk from the Oquirrh Mountain temple to the Jordan River temple. It is around 4 miles and was a piece of cake and oh so beautiful.    Then we came home and I took Kara to take her final for a class she has been taking online. Colton and Matt had to work.  And Spencer was having a little reunion with the group he went to Fiji with.    Coby, Colleen, Kara and I went to the the Farmer's market at Pioneer Park.  There are so many cool products they are selling there.  The food was yummy and the vendors were so kind.
After that we went to the Leonardo museum that we have an annual pass to.  This time the  Human Right issues they were teaching about was the need for clean water.   There are about one billion people with out access to clean water and four billion  without an adequate supply.  Nearly 4,000 people, mostly children die because they drink contaminated water.  We are so blessed to have clean drinking water and I must say it is something that I take for granted.

After we were done in the Leonardo we walked to the city library and went to the top of the roof.  Gorgeous view!
Collen was so kind to  ask me if I wanted to get in a picture with my kids.
Then we went to an authentic Belgium waffle place. Colleen's mom went on a mission to Belgium and she says this is how they really taste.  I must say I fell in love with the waffle.
We also had frites and the dipping sauce was a mayonnaise base with lots of yummy flavors.   The mayonnaise tastes  different then  the kind in U.S. and I must admit was much better.
We came home and Kara had to baby sit.  Matt and I took Colleen and Coby at the restaurant of their choice and they picked the pie.   It has very yummy pizza.  Afterwards, Coby invited some of his friends from high school. It was so fun to see everyone and visit!

On Sunday evening we went over to Matthew and Suzanne's home to celebrate Brittany's birthday.  She turned 12 and she is such an amazing young woman.    For her birthday she got this beautiful dog (above) that Spencer fell in love with.  It is a pure breed dog and it came all the way from Missouri. She has lots of energy!

Last days in junior high!

I just got my computer back from the shop after being broken for 10 days.   I still had my phone, but it is kind of hard to type more than a few sentences.  My computer had some viruses on it. I got it at PC laptops and so it was FREE!!

Pictures of Kara and friends on the last couple days of school.  They had a 9th grade Lagoon day.  They loved it so much they went back for Bounce back day!

1st Day of School 2011-2012 school  year!
Last day of school of  2011-2012 school year!!!

School ended for Kara on June 1st.  She is no longer in junior high.   She is now in 10th grade.  I remember when she was done with elementary school  only three years ago,  which seems like yesterday.  And now in three years she will graduate from  high school.  YIKES!!!!!

On June 2nd we went and heard my niece Layla sing at the Children's Theater.  My camera memory was all full and my computer was in the shop so I couldn't record it. But she did amazing.    On July 27th she is the opening for a band that is coming to Utah.  We are so excited for her!

1st Mackey wedding of this generation--Jessica!!!

On May5th my niece Jessica Mackey got married to John Morrell in the Idaho Falls temple.  It was a beautiful day.  My Aunt Jan and Uncle Bob came from California on Wednesday, May 2nd to travel with us to Jessica's wedding.  It was so fun to have them at our home for a week!! We traveled to Idaho Falls in the early afternoon, traveling with my my brother Matthew's family.  Mikayla, my niece and close to Kara's age traveled in our car with us.  After arriving at our hotel we went shopping and then headed out to dinner.  It is fun going to a sit down place with 10 children and 8 adult---good times.  After we got home from dinner my brother John, and Annette and children came to our hotel and visited with us. We certainly did a lot of giggling!!!

Jessica and John coming out of the temple.

My nephews and Jessica's three handsome brothers!!!!  Johnny had to work the graveyard shift at his work in Rexburg.  He hadn't slept in 30 + hours in this photo.

It was freezing in Idaho Falls.  The high for the day was 48 degrees.  The temple has this adorable white  shawl you can use while taking pictures.

John certainly was brave to try this!!!

This is one of my favorite photos!!!

I love her dress!!!!  It was absolutely GORGEOUS!!!

Jessica and her mom!!  Annette and I grew up together and were the best of friend. It is pretty cool when one of your best friends is part of your family!
