Kara's first day of school!!

Kara started school today as a 6th grader. And Spencer started today too, but I just don't have a picture of it. She was so excited to be a 6th grader and she says she is going to work as hard as ever. She is on the student council this year and so she has to have super grades in order to stay on it. So she said she will work very hard, but I don't think Kara knows how to not work hard!!!

Colton's first day of school will be on September 8th. He is starting at a brand new school so they have been a little delayed in starting, but it is highly worth it in the end.

Spencer is settled in Cedar City

Yesterday, August 20th, 2008 we left early in the morning to take Spencer to Cedar City for college. Our car was completely filled with all of the food we had bought him and all of the things he was bringing with him to SUU. I was really sad to see him go, but really happy for him and the exciting opportunities he will have at college. I remember being in college with fond memories, my young day starting right before I turned 18 at BYU and my days going back at the U of U with four children to complete my degree. When we got to his room one of his roommates who had already arrived was instantly at our car to help us unpack. It was so great. We unpacked in no time and then we helped him unpack everything and put things away. Then we went and bought his books, bought him more food and stuff he would need to get settled, like a chair! Then Spencer went and paid his tuition and I think that might have been a little hard for him to do, but he took it right in stride! After all day of that we drove home and we even brought home someone from our ward too who had dropped off their daughter at SUU. We had an eventful trip home with a lot of excitement. And happy that Spencer was settled in his new place!!!!

Need help for the reunion to go smoothly!!!!

Hi Everyone~

I am in need of some help with the reunion and so I 'm letting you know some of the areas I need help in. Please let me know if you can help with any of these areas by emailing or calling me back ASAP.

Going to the grocery store on Tuesday the 29th for food (money will be provided before the party)
Helping our group pick out the photos (three people would be great)
Setting up tables at the church on Tuesday the 29th (at least 2 people) (teenagers are also accepted)
Cleaning up after the birthday party ( at least 4 people)
Video taping the birthday party (1 person and not the whole party)
Video taping throughout the reunion (at least 2 different people) Also these people need to be willing to share their video tapes with the group if others are interested in receiving one for a small cost. If no one is willing to do this I will take what I can get.
Game Expert for the games each night (someone to make sure that we have enough games each night. This can also be rotated by more than one person, but I need someone).
Photographers to take pictures of people throughout the week ( 2 would be ideal and of course be willing to share with others after the reunion).
Help with the barbecue on Saturday, Aug. 2nd. (3 people)

I am sure that there will be more things that I will need help with too, but for now this is what I have. For the dinner group I have five families that are eating together for five night. If anyone else wanted to participate please let me know by 7-23 at the latest. Thank you very much.

Please as always continue to check the blogspot as that is where the info is. http://cami-and-matt.blogspot.com and also has maps etc.

Please email me back after you have read this email so I know you have read it and have received it even if you are not willing to help. Thank you so very much.

I am getting excited~

Dinner arrangements-- let us know if you want to join in

As of right now we have three families that are going to be eating dinner together on the nights of Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. If any family would like to join us we would be happy to add your family if you want to help make dinner one night. What we are doing is each family is taking a night to pay and fix dinner for the three families and then we are all eating together. For example, I am fixing dinner for the three families on Wednesday evening and the three family members will be coming over to my villa on Wednesday night for dinner at my villa. Then another family is doing the same on another evening. So if any of you are interested in joining in and eating dinner with us and will also help pay and cook dinner one night let me know ASAP and we would love to have you join us. The more the merrier. We could have this dinner group go up to five nights and have two families helping on each night.

We are getting very excited for the reunion

The reunion is coming so quickly and everyone at our home is getting excited. I didn't have many respond to the questionnaires so it looks like it is going to be a very relaxing week for visiting. If you were to decide you do want to do things while you are up there feel free to go ahead and plan it as there is so much to do as I have listed many things on the blogspot. For those few families who did respond and want to do activities I have them scheduled and will be sending the schedule very soon.

The day that everything is arranged for is on Tuesday, July 29th in regards to Grandma Mackey's party. We'll be having our family pictures at Inkley's at 9845 S. 700 E. Sandy. Our pictures are scheduled for 11 AM on the 29th so we will need to leave the Marriot around 10:15 AM to get there in time. The pictures are scheduled for two hours, but when one of us is done you are welcome to go over there and leave the studio to my home or Mark and Miriah's home until the party starts.
Immediately after the pictures are over we will be going to the church for the birthday party/ lunch for Grandma which is also still in Sandy.

Also, please be aware that will will be playing games at someones villa each night of the reunion as some expressed an interest in playing games each evening. If you have games you would like to play please bring them to share. If you are interested in playing games please feel free to join us as the more the merrier.

Please continue to look on the blog spot as I will continue to put information on the site if you are interested.

Still missing questionnaires

Hi Everyone~

Thank you to everyone who sent back there questionnaires to me already. It is so helpful when we have this large of a group and so many families involved. At this time I still am missing several families questionnaires. If your reason for not emailing it back is because you just don't want to participate please just let me know that as well, OK? But for those of you who simply forgot I would really appreciate it if you could send them to me ASAP. Thank you in advance for sending them so promptly.

Family Pictures and Grandma's party

OK three items of business I want you all to know about ASAP. First, one is about the family picture. We are going to have our family pictures done by Inkley's. The basic 8x10 to order is $10.00 which is extremely reasonable and not to mention they do a wonderful job. Each of you who have paid your $50 have paid for your photo and dinner/party etc. Also, we get the copyright issues for a small fee so we will be able to do what we want with the pictures afterwards.

Inkley's staff is willing to come to Park City, but they will charge a fee of $135 to come and if we do it in Sandy it is free. The studio in Sandy can fit our group without any problem and the photographer is really great to work with as well as being a fabulous photographer. Also, if your individual family would like any additional poses it will be $25. He said that if there is four additional poses in additional to the entire group pose that he will not charge anymore for any other additional ones.

Second item I wanted to make you all aware of is, I have been calling around for a location for Grandma Mackey's big birthday celebration in Park City and I haven't had any success for a gathering of our size. Unfortunately, the places we are staying at do not have a large gathering location. With that being said and discussing it with other family members we believe the best solution would be to have it in Sandy/Draper on the same day that we do our family pictures in Sandy. The best location for the party would be ideally in one of our backyards and then we will have a barbecue. It won't be too much work, but a lot of fun! Suzanne and I are both willing to have it at our homes and have the dinner/party in the afternoon. Also, hopefully that day we could also see John's slides he had from he and Annette's trip to Egypt. The date for the pictures/party will be on Tuesday, July 29th at this time. Hopefully, by having it on Tuesday we will be able to possibly have our family pictures ready to take home when the reunion is over!

Third, I have enjoyed receiving many of your surveys and thank you very much for taking the time to fill them out so promptly. If any of you have possibly overlooked sending it you can still send it. Of course I am very aware that the deadline is the 25th, but it has also come to my attention that the sooner we reserve the dates for any activities the greater our experience and price at them so I wanted to pass that on. So far many have shown an interest in a variety of activities so if you are one who wants to do some activities the sooner you alert me to this the better. As always if you have any questions or comments please contact me.

Questions for Family Reunion I need you all to answer as soon as you can talk it over with your family

Here are some questions that I need you to answer. I would love to hear from each of you and what you like and what you want for the family reunion and now is your chance to speak up or forever hold your peace. So here are the following questions:

1 What kind of theme would you like?
A.Using President Hinckley's B's "Proud to BEE the Mackey Family"--- Honoring our Grandma (and Family Heritage)
B The Good Ole' Summertime
C. Christmas in July
D. No theme
E. Please add your own creative theme here please and we could vote. I am thinking that one of my brothers or Tyson can really come up with a real good one.

2 Do you want to go boating during the reunion and if so about how much? (A few hours or maybe a day or more?) Are you willing to help pay for the cost in renting a boat and the gas? Do you have any life preservers? Also, please give your weight so we can order the correct life preserver. This is a serious question
Would you want to reserve a bungalow for when we are not in the water?
Are you interested in Rafting/kayaking?
having a picnic
horseback riding
off road ATVing
Fishing
Golfing
Skinny dipping at night
going to see a movie
biking/renting bikes
Heber Valley Railroad
Slide show of Egypt etc
Hot Air Balloons
Zip Line/Alpine Slide
going to a timeshare presentation to get some cool free stuff
Shopping at the outlets or on Main street
going to SLC temple or on any church history tours
mild river rafting on the Provo River
playing board games at night and if so do you have any?
Going anywhere without your children?

Going on wild safari ride
going on a hike and if so more than one and what duration of a hike? easy, moderate, or difficult; would you be bringing children?
would you like to go out to dinner as a whole group or as small groups? What is your price range?

Everyone should have sent Cami there $50 for their family by now if you haven't please do so ASAP as I don't want to have to remind anyone one more time.

3. For Grandma's birthday dinner and party would you like it outside or at a park? What are you envisioning happening? Seriously, I want the real truth? Have you sent Jean your entry about Grandma yet? If not why not soon? OK, our family hasn't yet either we need to get on the ball. I bet no one will beat our family? Just kidding.

4. What would you like to eat at her birthday dinner and what could you make for the dinner? Does anyone in your family have any special dietary concerns that should be know before preparing the food? Digestive problems, lactose intolerant, allergies to food, burping and gas can be considered a problem and bad gas should be noted PLEASE for everyone's sake so we don't make that food as we have limited bathrooms. Anyone have issues with beans?

5. What is your family planning to do for the program or do you want a program or talent show one night? We are accepting any and all talents this includes blowing balloons w/ your nose, or any unusual talent that could surprise us all. This Question must be answered! Mandatory or a menial assignment will be given.

6. When we get the group family picture do you want some additional pictures besides the group picture? And if so can you let me know what they are so we can tell the photographer so she is aware ahead of time so she can book a certain amount of time. Do you need special lighting or need to be located in a special spot due to genetic misfortunes, or spots you are hiding?

7. Have your told Sheryl your shirt sizes yet? Please note if you don't do so by June 10th you will automatically be assumed to need a 3 XL. If you want this size there is no need to respond as your shirt will be order automatically.

8. For the weekly FHE lesson how would you like it to be handled, one huge FHE, smaller groups, done as an individual family, or the whole week is one huge FHE? If you secretly have the desire to plan and do it all by yourself please let me know as I have many wanting this position. May the best one of you win. Just know I am rooting for one of my siblings yes I am bias. I just had to let you know.

9. Would you like activities put together for your younger children and if so are you willing to be in charge of a group or assist in one? (seriously any parent of young children is going to need some ME time. Family reunions, little children, and small quarters, can often spell EXHAUSTION!

10. Would you like to go to the local ward church on Sunday?

11. Are there any fun activities or ideas that you want to see happen at the reunion?
Come on just let us know pretty please with sugar on top :) Now just remember if you hide your thoughts on this one inside and don't share we all will be missing out on YOU!

Can't wait to hear from all of you. Please respond as soon as you can and for sure before Sunday, May 25th.
